So, it’s that time of the year again…

Time to shift gears and spend some quality time with friends and family and (hopefully) take in some rest and relaxation. It is more than just a time of giving gifts and putting your feet up. It’s a time for reflection, a time to appreciate those closest to you and to be thankful for them.

It’s a time to look beyond the numbers to scrutinize your work-life “balance sheet”. Is it time to make a change? Is your wealth best-taken care of in your business, or is there a different way that you should be looking at your assets and your risk – and that all-important balance between what we live for and what we work for!

Most of us get so bogged down in the trenches, fighting to do more, build more, and make more, that it’s easy to overlook the loved ones that not only depend on you financially but who also want you to be there for them. I think we are all a little guilty of this, and who can blame us?

And that’s why the festive season gives us the opportunity to really engage in what is important to us. It is a time when we often change our minds and change our plans. Over the years I have had numerous clients having gone on holiday at this time of year saying they are not ready to sell their businesses and come back ready to get started with the process (and I have had others change their minds in the other direction too!)

So, if you are rethinking your next move, or just want some perspective on how the market may view your business, consider engaging with us in our new Saleability and Market Assessment, or SMA. The SMA is a consulting service designed to empower you to make that all-important decision about your business and show you how to manage your wealth that is tied up in it.

Here’s how it works: We engage with you over a 2 to 3-month period and deliver a comprehensive analysis of your business, covering three key elements:

  • Business Analysis: See your business through the eyes of an acquirer and gain a unique perspective on how your business would be presented to them in order to attract the best buyer.

  • Valuation: Understand how the market is likely to value your business, and what the key drivers are behind these different valuation methodologies.

  • Acquirer Strategy: Find out what deals have happened in your sector, both locally and internationally, and understand where we need to look to find the best acquirers for your business.

Once we have completed an SMA for you, you will be ready to make an informed decision about your next move.

Do you need a growth partner?

Do you want out?

Or do you just want to take that first step toward an exit – with the power of knowledge and information on your side?

Enjoy your time off, knowing that 2020 could be very different… and very profitable.

Have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Warm Regards,
Rick Grantham
